Marie-Fleur Albecker, Université Paris 1 - Panthéon - Sorbonne, Ecole Normale Supérieure
Marie-Fleur has a professional master in Territorial and Urban Strategies from Sciences Po Paris and a research master from the University of Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne. She is an alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris) in Geography and Social sciences, and holds the agrégation of Geography (highest teaching diploma in France). She is currently doing her PhD in Territorial and Urban Planning at the University of Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne under the supervision of Pr. Sylvie Fol. Her research focuses on the socio-spatial consequences of globalization on Paris' first suburbs and the role of local policies in this context.

Sophie Buhnik, Université Paris 1 - Panthéon - Sorbonne, Ecole Normale Supérieure
Sophie has followed a 3-year special training in country planning and urbanism at the University of Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne (Magistère Urbanisme et Aménagement), and holds a research Master from the same university. She is an alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Paris and has worked 2 years for a country planning agency in France (Délégation Interministérielle à l'Aménagement et à la Compétitivité des Territoires, www.diact.gouv.fr). She was a Visiting Student at the Waseda University School of Social Sciences (Japan) in 2006 and at Johns Hopkins University (USA) in 2007. Her PhD focuses on the issues of mobility and access to urban resources for residents who live in shrinking urban areas, in Osaka (Japan) and Baltimore (USA).

 
Beatriz Fernandez, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
Beatriz is an architect and Adjunct Professor of Urban Planning at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She is currently doing her PhD at the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the School of Architecture. Her research focuses on the process of decline of former industrial cities and the role of urban planning in their regeneration strategies. In 2011 she will be a Visiting Scholar at ColumbiaUniversity.

Yoan Miot, Université des Sciences et des Technologies, Lille
Yoan Miot is a French PhD student in Planning and Regional Studies in the Université des Sciences et des Technologies of Lille. He led previous research on Local Housing Policies in French suburbs and the cultural implications of urban renewal. His present research interests includes Housing Renewal in ancient inner cities. The case studies are three French industrial and shrinking cities : Mulhouse, Roubaix and Saint-Etienne. His research work got financial support from the City Council of Roubaix, where he holds a position of engineer in housing policy monitoring and housing assesment in ancient inner cities
 

Cesar Ortiz-Guerrero, School of Planning, University of Waterloo

José Prada Trigo, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, España
José Prada is PhD Student of Geography in the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) and works as Research Fellow for the Institute of Economy, Geography and Demography in the Superior Council of Scientific Research. He’s also a title of specialist in migrations and interculturality. His research focus is the commons dynamics of the medium-size shrinking cities in Spain and the role of local policies and actors in the different revitalisation strategies.


Sabina Uffer, London School of Economics and Political Science, London
Sabina has a master in political science from the University of Geneva in Switzerland and is currently doing a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research focus is on the relationship between national and local government in dealing with shrinking cities.
